Taqueria La Quinta Located two blocks away, at 3rd and Main Streets, the restaurant offers fresh Mexican faire, and orders to go. Great for bringing a lunch back to the Cottage, but note that it closes fairly early in the evening (7:30 pm weekends). The Pine Cone Diner Located on 4th Street, just 2 ˝ blocks away, the Pine Cone offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Wine and beer are available, and you can call about reservations at 663-1536, which might be needed on weekends, since this is a small restaurant. Station House Café Located on the east side Main Street, at 2nd, the Station House Café is a three-block walk. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in a casual, cafe atmosphere, and a bar is located in the restaurant. A lovely outdoor patio is offered in season. There is often live music on weekends, when reservations are frequently needed (and not just for dinner) at 663-1515. Café Reyes Located in the small commercial complex at the south end of town, the café overlooks State Route 1 after it has turned west from Main Street. Creative fresh food from south of the border is provided in generous servings in a friendly setting, with outdoor seating available. Cold brews and a limited wine selection are available at lunch and dinner. No reservations, no credit cards, and you serve yourself, but great value. Point Reyes Villa Located just south of town on Route 1, across the Green Bridge, the Villa offers Italian cooking and some American cuisine in a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. Lunch and dinner, with reservations accepted at 663-5482.
Take Out sandwiches and other choices are offered at: Tomales Bay Foods and Cowgirl Creamery – 4th and B Streets, 1 ˝ blocks away, offers lots of interesting things beyond sandwiches. Bovine Baker – On Main Street, two blocks east and a few steps north, is "the place" for morning coffee and fresh baked goods. Palace Market – Two blocks away down Third, there are take-out items available at the meat counter in the back of the store. Whale of a Deli – South end of Main Street, offering sandwiches and hiking provisions. |

Olema Inn Restaurant In an historic building, this restaurant offers lunch and dinner, as well as Sunday brunch in a more elegant setting, which includes possible outdoor garden dining. This small café in downtown Inverness is best known for its great pizzas, fresh salads, and baked desserts. Limited seating indoors and out, with take-out available, every day, but hours vary. 669-1244 Vladimar’s Czechoslovakian Restaurant In downtown Inverness, Bohemian cooking in a comfortable atmosphere will supply a healthy appetite. A full bar and outdoor dining available, at 669-1021. Closed Mondays. Manka’s A turn-of-the-century hunting lodge houses Manka’s, offering a variety of interesting entrees, and an extensive wine list, in a fairly romantic atmosphere. Call 669-1034, for reservations, usually needed in advance, and directions. Barnaby’s by the Bay Overlooking Tomales Bay north of Inverness on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, lunch and dinner served indoors and out, weather permitting. Open 7 days a week, and reservations are accepted at 669-1114. |

Tony’s is in the village of Marshall, perhaps a 20 minute drive north on Route 1, and fresh seafood, views of the Bay, and a warm and friendly setting can make the drive worthwhile. They do not take credit cards and please check closing hours at 663-1107 Rancho Nicasio Located on the square in Nicasio, a 15 minute drive, this restaurant and bar offers a complete menu and live entertainment on weekends, when dinner reservations are nearly always needed, at 662-2219. |
